Video Essay - ‘How to Recommend Slow Cinema’

At the London Film Festival in 2023, I saw a screening of James Bennings’ Allensworth. I was both blown away and baffled by the film; thus, it stayed with me for many months afterwards.

The film triggered much reflection in me, both because of the film’s content but also had an effect on my own emerging relationship to ‘Slow Cinema’ and the inherent challenges of recommending it to people.

I made this video essay to interrogate those challenges.
